Compassion International is a Christian child development ministry dedicated to releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.
We care for vulnerable children with programs delivered through local churches in their communities. By hearing the gospel and receiving medical checkups, nutrition support and other critical care, children are empowered to overcome poverty and help others do the same.
Through child sponsorship, Compassion equips over 8,000 local churches in 29 countries to know, love and protect vulnerable children living in their communities.
With the support of these churches and loving sponsors, we provide for each child’s right-now and long-term needs, from medical care to education.
As their needs are met, children are empowered to escape poverty and become changemakers, transforming their families, communities and nations.
About Aril
Aril lives on the plains of Muhur, home to approximately 2,700 residents. Typical houses are constructed of wood and have tin roofs. The regional diet consists of fish, plantains and rice.
Common health problems in this area include dengue fever, typhus and malaria. Most adults in Muhur work in factories and earn the equivalent of $86 per month. His community has electricity, clean water and sanitation but needs vocational training, employment opportunities and public transportation.
Our sponsorship allows the staff of El Shaddai Student Center to provide the center staff to provide Aril with Bible classes, nutritious food, medical checkups, outdoor activities, school uniforms, tuition, scholastic materials, life skills courses and handicraft classes. The center staff also provides income-generating skills, worship services and child protection training for his family.
